: There have been many highlights but the one that stands out the most, would have to be newfound community I have been fortunate to be able to become a part of- the deaf community. Learning a new language, Auslan and soon International sign has been a wonderful reward of working on this unique event!
Experience: The Melbourne 2005 Deaflympics will definitely be the best Deaflympics ever! I can see it really putting the Deaf community on the world map! Especially in Australia. Our communication needs is something that has been an exciting challenge for all of us involved and I am sure the Deaflympics will be a fantastic new experience for all of us. The new technology of a flashing light system for the Athletics, Swimming and Waterpolo competitions is a major step forward for elite deaf athletes from around the world, to enable them the very best opportunity to perform at their best!
