Athletics Technical Director
Position: Danish (German until 1989)
Sports: I have participated as active or leader in all Summer World Games from 1965 to 2005 with the exception of 2001 (I was spectator only).I have been active top-athlete for 16 years (1961-1977).
Functional Areas: Participated in 4 World Games (1965-1977) and I won medals in all four games. National Technical Delegate for athletics in Cologne 1981 (for Germany) and again in 1997 (for Denmark). CISS Technical Director for 20 years (1981-1997 and 2001-2005).
Previous Experience: In view of the well organised information prior to the games I expect that the information and communication system will promote deaf sports world wide.
I also expect that not only the athletes but also the officials do their best to obtain remarkable results in all sports.
Highlight of working at M2005: My first World Games in Washington in 1965 - I was the youngest member of the German athletics team and won more medals than my older and more experienced teammates. Another memorable moment was Malmö 1973, where I won Gold in long jump ahead of two Russian girls who were favorites.
