Palau sent 2 athletes and 1 coach to attend the UWW Training Camp despite fears of the COVID-19 Virus spreading in many of the countries. On March 05, 2020, the African & Oceania OG World Qualifications was postponed due to the spreadof the COVID-19 leading up to will be held in El Jadida, Morocco from 02 – 18 March, 2020. Despite the news and the travel ban for other athletes that were supposed to come to Morocco, we remained along with other participants from Africa to continue our training. For the athletes that were already present in Morocco, it was a time to train and reflect on our present situation and make the best use of our time to train together and experience what Morocco has to offer.
The Africa Training Centre was an excellent venue. The training camp was a unique experience for us being in Morocco and we were very thankful to have the finest coaches and athletes train together despite the fears of COVID 19-pandemic affecting the world. The coaches provided hands on training. We practiced twice a day featuring elite technique and training and we worked hard not only physically but mentally to prepare. Although the Africa-Oceania Olympic Qualification was postponed along with other planned events for the year, we remained positive throughout the time. I just want to say thank you to everyone who made it possible to train despite the outcome.
