Palau was able to send 4 athletes and 1 coach to take part in the UWW Training Camp for Greco Roman, Freestyle and Female Wrestling being held at the Körcsarnok training centre located in Budapest, Hungary. In preparation for the World Championships, Palau’s wrestling team arrived in Budapest on October 8th and took part in the freestyle training program during this period of training. It was exciting to train and meet other athletes and coaches from around the world and other small island countries.
The camp was well organized and the coaches really took the time to help our athletes in their preparation and training. We were able to stick to the training schedule that really fitted our needs as it was intense and suitable for our athletes. Our team mainly focused on freestyle wrestling while Jarvis Tarkong was the only other athlete that trained in both Freestyle and Greco Roman Style. There were many participants from around the world to include and after the camp, we were able to exchange emails and become friends on social media. On behalf of the team, I want to thank the organizers, Hungarian Wrestling Federation, UWW, our sponsors and Palau NOC for all the support and technical assistance received for our team.
