The 2008 Oceania Championship took place in Canberra, Australia, from 8 to 10 February. The freestyle competition was dominated by the Australian wrestlers who won 6 gold medals; the last one beeing won by the 120 kg wrestler from Palau. In Greco-Roman, Australia showed its superiority again by winning 4 gold medals. The 3 others were won by the Pacific Islands Samoa, Palau and Guam. The female wrestling competition was only represented by 3 categories with the gold medals won by Australia, Guam and New-Zeland. The complete results are available at the

The seven qualified wrestlers for the Olympic Games were selected by a special commission formed of the Oceania Commitee and the FILA technical delegate, Mister Ik-Jong Kim, that is :
- Sandeep Kumar, Australia, 84kg Freestyle
- Hassan Sashavan, Australia, 74kg Greco-Roman
- Ali Abdo, Australia, 74kg Freestyle
- Kyla Bremner, Australia, 48kg Female Wrestling
- Maria Dumn, Guam, 63kg Female Wrestling
- Elgin Elwais, Palau, 55kg Greco-Roman
- Florian Skilang Temengil, Palau, 120kg Freestyle
This means that Elgin and Florian qualify for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
