Venue Information
The Victorian Weightlifting Stadium is ideally located near Hawthorn train station, only ten minutes from the city, and is accessible by frequent tram and bus service.
How to get there
The Victorian Weightlifting Stadium is located on Linda Crescent Hawthorn, at the back of Glenferrie Oval. From the central business district of Melbourne take Victoria Street, which turns into Victoria Parade. Continue down Victoria Parade across Hoddle Street, then on to Barkers Road. Travel down Barkers Road then turn right into Glenferrie Road. Once on Glenferrie Road turn right into Linda Crescent.

Total of Snatch, Clean & Jerk
Competition Format
Each weightlifter is allowed three lifts of selected weight in both Snatch and Clean & Jerk. The person who lifts the heaviest total weight is the competition winner. If two or more individuals lift the same weight, the winner is determined by a count back based on the lowest body weight.
Training Facilities
Training platforms and facilities will be located at Hawthorn Sports And Aquatic Centre, adjacent to the competition venue.
Competition and Qualifying Standards
The weightlifting competition at the Games will be conducted by the Victorian Weightlifting Association, under IWF Masters Rules. Entries will be endorsed by each National Federation under the IWF qualifying standards.
Important Note:
A competitor cannot enter in the Melbourne 2002 World Masters Games unless they have received signed endorsement from their National Federation Chairman.
Any enquiries regarding National Federation endorsement should be directed to your National Federation Chairman.
Details of relevant National Weightlifting Federation Chairmen will be available on this site soon.
Registration Process
Competitors who have received endorsement will be given the Melbourne 2002 World Masters Games registration booklet and the IWF Masters Entry Information kit directly from their National Chairman.
Completed registration booklets must be returned, with complete payment, to the National Chairman. Payments should include 2 cheques, US$120 payable to 'Melbourne 2002 World Masters Games' and a further payment to the IWF, the amount of which will be detailed in the IWF Masters Entry Information kit.
Online registration for Weightlifting will not be accepted.
